Abstract

This chapter proposes a wideband polarization-independent microwave absorber for L and S frequency band applications. The structure comprises four resistors and 10*10 unit cells printed on an FR4 substrate with an ample airgap of 1 cm. The simulated structure consists of an ultra-wide bandwidth of 2.24 GHz with a fractional bandwidth of 95.8% occupied at above 90% absorptivity. The novelty of this structure is that it consists of wide bandwidth in TE and TM modes in long wave and short wave communication, which can be utilized in the LTE band and TV communication on satellite. The proposed structure is miniaturized to λ/12 in size and λ/16 in thickness. The results of a fabricated structure are also compared to the results of a simulation.
