Abstract

This paper describes a six year project [1996 - 2001] to assess the improvement in on- campus students knowledge of farm economics management and marketing after had redesigned the relevant courses in 1995-96. Students completed a standardized, anonymous test on entry and after their first, second and where applicable, third years. The authors hereby present the results of this project. They describe how they used the first three years pilot survey results in 1998 to modify the standardized test. They conclude that the exercise has proved a valuable aid to adjusting course contents and teaching methods and have now arranged to conduct the standard test elsewhere in the region.
