Abstract

This paper discusses how The University of the South Pacific has developed a first year online mathematics course for students from its twelve member countries in the South Pacific region. Using the Pedagogical Progressive Model of Moodle, which is a popular open source learning management system, activities such as glossaries, forums, lessons, interactive assessments and homework have been developed and implemented to garner participatory, collaborative and interactive learning in the online course. The paper showcases various activities and practices designed for different steps of the Pedagogical Progressive Model.
