Abstract

This paper recounts the birth of Pacific Studies and considers the post-disciplinary non-boundaries of Pacific Studies and argues for a re-conceptualization of Pacific Studies as a ʻberth'. Partially rejecting the "seductive metaphor" of Pacific Studies as an "interdisciplinary canoe", this paper argues for a turn to metaphors of anchorages, moorings and wayfinding inside/toward a post-disciplinary understanding of Pacific Studies.
