Abstract

“A gracious God or a powerful God!” argues that it is time that all religions give up the images of a powerful and triumphant God which have been used as mascots for colonial expansion and continue to be used by the forces of empires world. Looking at the Churches in the Pacific, the paper argues that traditional theologies have always tended to pacify those who are hurt or suffering rather than to liberate and restore the victims of power structures.
