Additional Information: TRADE PASIFIKA – COCKTAIL LAUNCH HOST - MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY & TRADE VODAFONE ARENA – 1 April 2014 6:30-9:00PM The Oceania Dance Theatre was asked to provide exclusive entertainment for the private cocktail launch as a special request by Chief Guest Honerable Aiyaz Sayad-Khaiyum (Attorney General & Minister for Industry & Trade). The event was hosted by, The Permanent Secretary for Industry and Trade, Mr. Shaheen Ali and was attended by over 300 attendees from the private sector, business and diplomatic core. The theme for the opening of the three day event was TRADE PASIFIKA “Exporting for Growth” & “It’s Everyone’s Business”. This opportunity came along as a direct result of Artistic Director, Peter Rockford Espiritu serving as Head Judge for Fiji’s Dancing Super Star on FBC-TV. The Attorney General was the guest of honor and sat next to Mr. Espiritu during the show and asked about Oceania Dance Theatre and the excellence of their dancing. The next day we received a call from Mr. Sayad-Khaiyum asking ODT to provide entertainment for the event. The Oceania Dance Theatre provides entertainment throughout the year for many events. We serve as ambassadors for The University of the South Pacific through our dances and use dance, culture and the arts as an educational tool to promote the excellence of our work to the country and the region. The performances also help to fortify the income of the dancers while generating income to the Oceania Centre. These events also help to support the future needs of the company while increasing the visibility of The University of the South Pacific.
