Abstract

The last decade electric vehicles have become more and more popular all over the world, this is due
to the fact that its environmental benefits outweigh the diesel and gas powered vehicles. Dashboard Panels play
a vital role in the operation of Electric vehicles [EV], it not only provides the driver with the information it
needs to operate the vehicle but also gives the driver operational status of each sub-system in the EV.
Conventional dashboard panels use dedicated gauges that are fixed and cannot be altered easily. With the
current trend of vehicles, dashboards are becoming more flexible in the sense that it can be tailor made to the
drivers’ requirements at delivery. This paper presents the design process of a flexible dashboard panel that is
easily reconfigured during its lifetime, accommodating changes in the vehicle subsystems configurations but
also being aesthetically appealing. The proposed dashboard design is to be mainly used in electric vehicles.
