Pacific people are known to be great navigators and seafarers, successfully exploring and populating the largest oceanic region on Earth. Traditional ways of knowing, doing and being are manifested through contemporary cultural practices and beliefs. But how does cultural capital assist Pacific people to expand beyond this iconic region, and what impact does this have on successfully navigating new states and territories? This chapter is a case study outlining the experience of Fijian people migrating across the region, whilst highlighting good practice approaches in developing services and community-based programs to support Pacific communities abroad, and the utility of intercultural awareness in promoting such transitions.
