Abstract
This paper proposes a finite-control-set model predictive current and capacitor voltage control strategy for the synchronous reluctance motor drive systems fed by the eight-switch three-phase inverter (ESTPI), which is a type of post-fault reconfigured three-level neutral-point-clamped inverter with open-circuit fault in a leg. The proposed control strategy uses the discrete-time models of the drive system to predict the behavior of the stator currents and the neutral point potential (NPP) error for zero and small voltage vectors provided by the ESTPI. The errors between stator currents and their references in the rotor reference frame as well as the NPP error are evaluated in a predefined cost function. The basic voltage vector, which minimizes this cost function, is selected. The proposed control strategy can achieve not only the reference stator current tracking but also the capacitor voltage offset suppression. Simulation results have shown the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
