The cosmopolitan right is one of the most famous elements of Kant’s political and ethical writings. This chapter explores Kant’s cosmopolitan ethics in the context of climate change. It argues that while the scope of cosmopolitan right is not necessarily wide enough to accommodate future needs of (im)mobility, Kant’s broader system of right can be utilised in thinking about the rights of individuals in the cases of climate-induced mobility. To expand Kant’s notion of hospitality, however, a more critical reading is required, and here the chapter looks at the radical hospitality as an alternative. The paper concludes that the cosmopolitan spirit of Kant’s writings, together with the idea of radical hospitality, can provide ethical guidelines for the future climate-induced mobility.
