Abstract

The increased computation load of the modern era presents an opportunity for Mobile edge computing models like the Honeybee models, as they offer a significant potential in optimizing computational load balancing. Being as it is the data security is an essential part of any computing system. This paper aims to provide the security enhancement to the Honeybee model by integrating user authentication, data encryption for data in transit and at rest and provide a secure channel for communication. The prototype system to simulate work-sharing capabilities of the Honeybee model has been developed, where users submit and solve simple mathematical tasks, which will be used to evaluate can compare the performance before and after integrating the security features. This performance comparison will demonstrate what computational overhead will be introduced with the security integration while significantly improving data integrity and user privacy. The results of the integration will offer an insight into the fine balance between security and performance in the mobile edge computing cloud environment.
