Abstract
even before the on set of the global economic recession in late 2008, sub Saharan Africa and Oceania were deemed to be lagging behind in achieving the millennium development goals MDG's and there were concern that many of the goals will not be met by 2015. while the challenges in sub Saharan Africa are seen to be of a much higher magnitude than those in Oceania, for the latter to achieve all the goals in the seven years requires significant new policy initiatives and there more effective implementation, as well as renewed partnerships which will drive sustainable action towards the MDG's.
