Abstract

In this paper, we present a single-feed shorted patch antenna with low cross-polarized radiated fields. The printed antenna uses two shorted parasitic elements symmetrically located around the driven shorted patch. These elements electromagnetically balance the radiator. We have experimentally verified the new antenna and have found its cross-polarized radiation patterns to be significantly lower than a conventional shorted patch by an order of more than 10 dB.
