Abstract

The synthesis of the simplest stereochemically labeled thiirane oxides, cis- and trans-dideuteriothiirane oxide via the stereospecific formation of the corresponding deuterated epoxides and thiiranes was reported. The stereochemical results of their decomposition both in the gas and solution phase was also reported. The results provide an unambiguous stereochemical test for the mode of decomposition of simple thiirane oxides. (DDA)
