Abstract

The elemental abundances of United States Geological Survey (USGS) standard rocks RGM-1 and STM-1 and of two sediments from mangrove areas of Vuda and Naisivi in western VIti Levu, Fiji were studied by instrumental neutron activation analysis using reactor irradiation and high-resolution gamma-ray spectrometry. The elemental abundances in these samples were determined using the USGS standard AGV-1 as the comparator. Concentrations of one major element (Fe), and of 17 trace elements (Sc, Cr, Co, Zn, Rb, Sr, Ar, Sb, Cs, Ba, Ce, Eu, Tb, Yb, Hf, Ta and Th) were determined
