This paper aims to present the findings of a study on school leaders' perceptions of their performance in one of the countries in the Pacific region - namely, the Solomon Islands. A survey questionnaire and interviews were used to gather the data about school leaders' performance. The findings indicated that most of the school leaders felt that they were struggling in their performance as they were unprepared for their role. Even though this has been a small-scale study, it does shed light on the need to prepare school leaders for their role to ensure effective leadership and management of schools in developing contexts such as in Solomon Islands.
