Abstract
Multiple challenges are faced in even considering the topic of this conference in relation to South Pacific Island countries (PICs). They are small nations, usually newly independent, and are faced with many educational, economic and political problems arising from their lack of development.
These challenges are not unique to PICs but are shared by many other countries in similar stages of economic development.
This workshop will outline some of the problems faced by developing nations in merging the concept of trade unions with the concept of fighting discrimination against homosexuals, by using the experiences of PICs as examples.
It is then hoped that, with people from other developing countries, issues we share in common can be identified, and possible strategies for responding to these issues can be developed.
