Abstract

HIV/AIDS is a development issue that affects all parts of society. A large part of its economic impact arises from the effect of an epidemic on the workplace. In recognition of this the International Labour Organisation has developed a Code of Practice on HIV/AIDS and the world of work. The Code recognizes the importance of HIV/AIDS as a workplace issue, and the need for responses from governments, employers and workers that promote decent work and respect for human rights.
