Abstract
In a country dependent on international tourism, the structure and performance of the civil aviation
industry, in the South Pacific island nation of Fiji, is an important economic, political and social issue. In 1999 the industry, with some controversy, was substantially reformed. This paper will trace the events of the reform process and then evaluate the performance of the major commercial entity that was created by the process: Airports Fiji Limited. Despite the controversial nature of the
reform, and chequered performance of the company, after an interval of time, the performance of the industry did improve.
