Abstract

This paper heralds a joint partnership between the Government of Samoa and the University of the South Pacific to offer a programme to upgrade the qualifications of 60 teachers teaching science in the secondary schools in Samoa. The programme passionately known as STAP stands for Science Teachers Accelerated Programme, which is a new ICT-packaged two-year model delivered through cohort teaching by the Science Faculty of the University of the South Pacific. The design, delivery and the integrated support services of the multi-modal model is highlighted with observations, analytics, interpretations and interventions carried out during the first half of its implementation. The adaptive works carried out in response to the dynamic eduscape and the constraints tagged to the model are outlined with their strengths and opportunities. The paper finally works on the recommendations and commendations of Science Teachers Accelerated Programme.
