This paper describes and reflects critically on the use of e-education by the South pacific’s premier tertiary education provider, The University of the South Pacific in order to reach out to students who are geographically scattered in the twelve different countries it serves. The geographical dispersion of the countries together with neo-liberal educational free market competition especially with Pacific rim institutions poses a great challenge to the university in meeting the educational needs of its clients. In this regard, the paper highlights the need for a provision of quality e-education and also for the university to be cautious that the use of e-education can further disadvantage the already disadvantaged communities. To explore the issues of e education, the authors conducted a study of graduate students in the schools of education at the USP. Via questionnaire surveys and in depth interviews, graduate students’ views are captured, analyzed and presented as to how they experience on line learning and or ICT usage in general. Some suggestions for consideration include the improvement in the delivery of e-education for the students in the region and the need for the Universities to remain focused on the twin issues of access and equity of our small island states’ student populations.
